How do I preview the ball?

Open Orbit and click “Meet your break.” The ball expands for five seconds, followed by a 24-second preview. Press Escape to return immediately. You can also choose “Preview the ball” from Orbit’s menu-bar icon.

How does Orbit decide when to remind me?

The default is a 60-second break after 50 minutes of active work. Choose a 25-, 50-, or 90-minute work interval and a 30-, 60-, or 120-second break in the Orbit window.

Orbit pauses the work timer after one minute without keyboard or mouse input. Five minutes away, display sleep, or system sleep starts a fresh work cycle. Reading without input pauses the timer after one minute too.

How can I snooze or pause reminders?

Press Escape during a real reminder to snooze for five active minutes. To pause reminders, open Orbit’s menu-bar icon and choose “Pause reminders.” Choose “Resume reminders” when you’re ready.

Where did the window go?

Closing the Orbit window keeps the reminder running in your menu bar. Click the circle icon there and choose “Open Orbit.” To stop the app completely, choose “Quit Orbit.”

Does Orbit record my activity?

No. Orbit reads the aggregate time since the last input event; it does not record what you type, capture your screen, or keep an app or browsing history. Settings stay on your Mac. Read the privacy policy for details.

Which Macs is Orbit built for?

Orbit targets macOS 13 or later and includes Apple Silicon and Intel builds. It does not add itself to your login items; open Orbit when you want reminders.
